ROTARY MARCHES TO VILLAGES

In the recent Rotary District Governor Rtn Ved Prakash Kalta’s official visit to Rotary Chandigarh Shivalik, one thing became certain that Rotary is spreading its wings to villages.

Rotary International is a worldwide movement, the oldest, largest & the most transparent NGO of the world. It is present in more countries than the UN. Rotary International was also part of UN formulation with a membership of over 1.2 million Rotarian worldwide. The objective of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise with its mission being “Service above Self”.

Rotary Chandigarh Shivalik (RCS) was chartered on 23rd May 1995, RCS is an extended Family concept where in spouses are equal partners in community development. This club has done Yomen service in/around Chandigarh such as: –

  • Improving habitat of adopted village Chotti Parch on periphery of Chandigarh wherein, bridges for all weather connectivity, solar lights, turkey farming, skill development courses, Happy School, Concept. Cremation ground & shelters et al was done including smokeless chulah.
  • Currently it is undertaking similar activities in Guraah Village, a backward & isolated entity. Medical camps, improvement of school & plantation of fruit orchard is in progress.
  • The club has distributed approx. 25 lakh Rupees of scholarships & computers to the specially abled through its important project of “Rotary Dinner in Dark“ – an eye opener for the society.
  • Its project “Muskan” provides free cleft surgeries to the effected children in the region.
  • Hearing aids to the impaired restoration of eye sight, save a life project, interaction & donation for Home for the aged and Orphanages and constant ongoing events.
  • We help & aid the Institute for the Blind, Sector 26 in a large & in very many manners, having established a computer room & state of art brailes

Today Rotary’s District Governor Rtn V.P. Kalta visited the club & inaugurated projects in Guraah village as well as opened a Medical Equipment Bank for the needy. He met the club’s board of directors. In his passionate address to the club members “he urged all to donate liberally for the Rotary Foundation – the financial aim of Rotary & increase the membership”. He urged club to continue activities in the villages & raise Rotary community corps therein. He complimented President Govind Miglani for the excellent work done through the year 2022-23, where in Rotary International has the First Lady Rotary International President Jenifer Jones.

I took charge as president on 1st of July 2022 , it was a learning experience as I have got the opportunity to work  as club secretary in the previous term  , the previous term  gave me  learning path to reach and become the club leader as president .

Sir-  our club was born and chartered in the year 1995 and I am proud and happy to have  become a club leader of this prestigious club  often referred as Rotary Chandigarh shivalik extended family

Sir happy to share that we conducted successfully the 8th Rotary dinner the dark in the month of October 20 22 it was a houseful show 50 persons dining in a pitch dark room and this event generated lot of awareness and empathy towards the visually challenged we were able to generate in total 28 scholarships out of which 23 were given a cash amount of 25,000 for educational fee and and additional 5 were selected for laptops with a assistive devices. In total 28 visually challenged students were honoured.

Project Muskan – our signature project under the leadership of Dr. S makkar , Dr vd Singh conducts left clip surgery free of cost . Patients can contact do makkar narkhi at landmark hospital and get the treatment done free of cost after enrolling under the Rotary project muskan more than 50 patients have been attended treated add surgical procedures perform in the last year

RCS medibank this is a project which we have recently started in which medical equipment and orthopedic flats or any other capital equipment which is required for patients post surgery or post discharge from hospital foreign limited amount of time and it is a burden on the pocket of the government men roti Chandigarh shivalik has initiated a unique medical bank in which up patient can take this on Zen free of cost forward period of 15 to 30 days as recommended by the doctor

currently our medical banks has recruitment for about 1.2 5,00,000 plus and the funds allocated are 2.5 lakh for this project we are having 2 bipap machines to wheelchair suction machine oxygen concentrator portable crutches kamothe and with the consultation of doctors we are adding more such equipment which goes waste after 15 to 30 days of usage

we have now already started and the bank is functional 3 patients have benefited and it will be spread across Rotary Club s public domain very soon

i am happy to share that if we have a young nascent society named after our charter president and a corpus of ₹11,00,000 stands in it-  each Rotarian member of our club is a member of the society and pays an amount towards it-   funds are collected and put in the corpus which is growing year on year,

we have successfully hosted the district Golf tournament.

We are able to launch our website rotaryshivalik.com and are digitizing all club records. We were able to host the district golf tournament in which more than 50  Rotarians played.
